ABSOLUTELY AWFUL
NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN!
It only opened this week! We thought we would give it ago.
Decor outside looks nice and inside is ok.. We were the only ones dining in there for the whole time we were there.
The waiter was extremely scruffy, rude and looked dirty.
We ordered our drinks (diet pepsi and tango) all fizzy drinks are free refills, however the tango was flat, diet pepsi was tasteless and i'm convinced they were watered down. Not sure how you get branded drinks to taste so revolting.
I ordered a 12oz rump steak. When it arrived on an ugly plate it was drowned in the juice it had been cooked it- so much so i had to find another plate to pour it on to- yuck. No way was it 12oz, more like 8oz beofre they started cooking it. I asked for well done and i got well done, but if it wasnt for the fact it kinda looked like a steak i would of been convinced i was chewing on a leather belt, because what little taste it did have was not beef. The 3 onion rings were tasteless and clearly out of a very cheap frozen packet. The chips were about the best thing and even they were pretty tasteless.
My partner ordered the half chicken with bbq sauce with chips. It came with a bowl of side salad. The chicken was very dry, no seasoning and we questioned how it was cooked- its suppose to be a grill bar, looked more boiled. The salad looked old and limp. When we shown the menu containing nine dessert items we were immediately informed that 2 of them were unavailable - only open a few days?? one was just an ice cream with fruit cocktail- clearly they had lost the tin opener! We did not order any desserts as they were extremely boring and after the main, would dread to see what they were like.
They waiter was handing out leaflets outside. It had a big headline claiming to be 'South Wales and the Wests finest stakhouse' How on earth can they claim such a title after only just opening? and let me assure you there was nothing 'fine' about it. We ended up getting our drinks free of charge. Will never return. You'll be mad to waste your money.

Best steakhouse ever...
I have been to La sizzla a few times now and am becoming quite a regular because not only does the place look fabulous, the food tastes amazing!
Its a open kitchen and you can see the chef cook and prepare food from fresh. Schadwick i really think you need to get your taste buds and eyes checked out because whenever i have ordered a steak it has looked and tasted absolutley divine, and there is nothing to comment about portion sizes because they are big. I have tried the lamb shank, lamb steak, fillet steak, rib eye and yesterday i tried the chicken and they taste amazing, this also go for the starters.
I agree the staff do not wear uniforms but the waitresses are smartly dressed polite and provide good service, they are always to hand. The gents behind the bar are extremly friendly and also polite.
Its a great place to dine with friends and family and every penny is worth it!
Whats suprising me is that your commenting 3weeks after they opened so i certainly don't think you know what you are on about!!!
And best bit is that they are offering free buckets of beer for every sitting of four or in our case sitting of 3! So who can complain, not me!!!
I suggest people should go to La Sizzla Steakhouse and try the food! It is a big thumbs up!!! Compliments to chef!!!

Rubbish! Absolutely Rubbish
Decided to go to La Sizzla after seeing it open for a few weeks.
Looks amazing and the menu looked really good.
As i walked in, i noticed the two people who run the restaurant, looked very very very casual and almost mistook them for gangsters. lol!
Inside, the restaurant is nice. The food lacked any flavour and very over cooked. my friend had a steak and his food was soaking in juice but the meat was dry. it was the stangest flavour and texture.
After trying to finish all the food, i had to leave with most of it still on the plate.
When we got out of the restaurant, we actually felt sick.
Service was brilliant, food was really bad, restaurant it self looked really nice.
I wont be visiting again

we think the food is delicious...
i really hope you know your food, if you order a steak and its cooked rare or even med rare of course its gonna have juice, i always have mine med well and its never had too much juice.
Did you leave your thoughts with them as each time myself or any of my friends have been in the staff have always asked whether we enjoyed the food and i have always been honest, because the food has been great.
I have mentioned that they should have some cake for desserts and i was told they are they are thinking of adding new desserts to the menu...

Bad, very bad
Looks nice- the venue that is, but thats about all.
FOOD IS REVOLTING
My partner and mysefl eat out regularly, some fine restaurants and occasionally the more casual place so I would say we are very much experienced in restaurant dining.
After been opening just a few weeks you surely would expect the food to be at their finest? think again.
I agree with 'Schadwick and For the Love of food' who have commented previously..
The steak came medium which i order but had a very bizarre smell about it and the taste was worse, can only be described as meat going off.
I of course expected some juice from the meat- but to swimming in it? thats just an instant turn off.
Cassandra- to eat there on 5 occasions in the first few weeks can only suggest you have low expectations!
Cant say i have anything positive to say about the waiter either, very casual and unfriendly.
In fact I have nothing positive to say about the whole experience apart from walking out the door.
There are much finer restaurants in Cardiff for the same value.. do yourself a favour, go to the others!

OMG DAVE LEG...!!!
FOR ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO DIDNT KNOW....
La sizzla now officialy owns the best chef in South Wales =O
cant believe it been looking for Dave Leg for the past few weeks absolutely love his food its fantastic.. he used to work at one of the top restuarants in cardiff and know works for the amaing La sizzla steak house... I have also been there with a few of my friends who are FOOD CRTICS and they to were also very impressed..!
cant stop going there now I am a mad fan... From his sauces to steaks is wonderful... i was quite shoked to see that he actualy makes his own divine piri piri sauce, tastes just like the scrumous nandos but even better!
I advise you people who think that La sizzla was a bad turn out to go BACK AGAIN because everything and everyone deserves a 2nd chance and with the famous Mr Leg working there =D OH ABSOLUTELY!
Personally im always dining out in the finest restuarants whether thats in Cardiff, London, Leicester or even up in Scottland... So I know when i see good food! and La sizzla is a fine restaurant no doubt!

Cassandra, you obviously don't dine at the fine restaurants that i go to.
The food will only taste good if you havent had better.
This forum or review site is to let others know of their own experiences, if you ejoyed it, thats good for you but i am not going to say the food is good just because you think it is.

Shut up haters!!!!
La sizzla is DEFO one of the best restaurants in cardiff...
The venue, the layout and the staff are amazing! very helpfull, and they sure know there stuff.
and as for the steaks well...lets jus say the food is cooked to perfection!
for people who think the steak where drowned in juice and not cooked well...i think you shud get your fact right because the food is cooked just the way you request it whilst ordering! its Definately amazing...the cheif cooking well he sure nose his stuff!
Its very easy to sit and write shit about a restaurant...and the people who have well you lot need to get out more..!! seriusly haters!!
For people trying La Sizzla out for the first time...DONT read the comments and be put off!!....this place is truly amazing, its worth the price!!
and for people who think its to expensive, well lemme tell you somthing you cant go into a steakhouse and pay £5 for steak!! Cheapskates!!!!
Lasizzla....One of the best places to visit!!!

fao Julie whether someone likes the food is down to their opinions and preferences not FACT!!!
I am going to go with the more well written of reviews and give the place a miss!! Where was that top restaurant that Dave Leg worked in before?

I have absolutely nothing positive to report on this experience. The food is dire. The waiter was... I'm not sure how to put it politely but lets just say scruffy and unkempt. We were going to take my grandfather here for his 80th as he loves his steak but that would be a serious insult to him. Never again would i go here. Grab yourself a jar of baby food it will be much more appetising and save you bucks!
