Bar Is it?

strange? name? but? good? bar?

I am not quite sure what they were thinking about when they named it but fair play to Brains Brewery, they know how to put a good bar together.

Brains really have done a good job here and together with their other city centre bars (Bar Essential and Incognito) they have almost cornered the market in smart, sophisticated but pleasantly relaxed bars. They are all ideally suited to Cardiff and provide the ideal surroundings for a pint before the match, a Saturday evening starting point or even a Friday night spur of the moment piss up (always the best ;o) ). They sell the reassuringly alcoholic Stella Artois but also have a good selection of spirits and wines.

This maybe just me but this place has a very French feel about it. I don't know what it is but I always have the feeling someone is going to walk in wearing a beret selling onions. Well maybe not, but you get my idea. The decor is modern but still warm and welcoming which is a change from some of the really stark ultra modern bars cropping up. I am not sure about during the week but there is a live DJ spinning tunes on a weekend which keeps the place lively and the service at the bar is usually pretty good.

I like this place a lot as it offers something for every situation. For a quiet drink with the missus you can move to the quiet booths at the back and for a drink with the boys you can stand in the window so everyone can see you looking suave. The last time I went here I even bumped into the Diggler who only frequents the finest of bars. If its good enough for him its good enough for me.

Fleeting Meeting host their Cardiff events every other Wednesday in Bar isit. I'm becoming quite a regular. It's an suprisingly good night out!
