Cardiff Castle is offering a free evening of traditional Welsh food and entertainment at one of their Welsh Banquets.
A competition is being launched this weekend, with the winner taking four tickets for a night to remember.
The competition will be launched on Bank Holiday Monday May 5th with events from 10am until 1pm at the Tourist Information Centre on the Hayes and then from 2pm until 4pm at the Cardiff Bay Visitor Centre in the Tube. The entertainers from the Welsh banquet ‘Nosweithiau Bute-iful Nights’ will be performing and Welsh cakes will be offered to visitors. Competition forms can be filled out at both of the venues on the day and the draw will take place at the Tube Visitor Centre at 4.00pm.
The traditional Welsh banquets take place from now until November the 30th and Christmas banquets are taking bookings now for December 1st to December 22 2008. A maximum of 104 guests with a minimum of 40 can be accommodated which makes it an ideal location for a special event or party. A tour of the castle apartments, including the clock tower is also on offer before the banquet begins.
Banquets begin at 7.30pm and on arrival guests can enjoy a glass of mead before taking their seats in the 15th Century Undercroft to enjoy a four course meal of local dishes. Traditionally costumed characters perform popular Welsh songs and invite the banqueters to join in. The whole evening is accompanied by the enchanting sounds of the harp.
