Four Last Songs with Søndergård

When: Friday 3rd October 2014 - 7.30

Where: St David's Hall, The Hayes, Cardiff

Sibelius’s Second Symphony, one of his most fiercely nationalistic works, is the highlight of Principal Conductor Thomas Søndergård’s first concert of the season. It’s paired with B Tommy Andersson’s The Garden of Delights, which takes inspiration from a painting by the Dutch artist Bosch. In between, Danish soprano Ann Petersen sings the last four songs by Richard Strauss, which hint at his foreboding illness and consequent death, matched with his own climactic creative surge
