SOUTH AFRICA APPEAL - Exhibition of 20 paintings by Peter Spriggs

When: Friday 22nd May 2009 - 19.15 - 21.30

Where: City United Reformed Church, Windsor Place, Cardiff CF10 3BZ

An exhibition of 20 paintings by established artist Peter Spriggs to raise funds for the South Africa Appeal.

"These paintings are intensely personal and deeply shared: they touch on something very central to the lighting of our way through the world." Professor Tony Curtis, New Welsh Review.

This exhibition of 20 paintings of burning candles has been organised to raise funds for the South Africa Appeal. The Appeal has been organised by The Union of Welsh Congregational Churches and Christian Aid to support local movements in South Africa. More than 5 million people (out of a population of 47 million) are HIV positive and 20 million live on less than £1 a day. All proceeds from the sale of twenty of Peter Spriggs’ works will be donated to the appeal.

A lecturer for many years at the West Wales School of the Arts at Coleg Sir Gar, Carmarthen, Peter Spriggs also exhibits work regularly in Wales and Europe and was recently Chairman of the 56 Group Wales group of artists.
