The Face of British Cycling Bradley Wiggins by Simon Connellan

When: Thursday 16th July 2015 -> Friday 31st July 2015 - 8.30am - 8.30pm daily

Where: Future Inn Cardiff, Hemingway Road, Cardiff Bay, CF10 4AU

Future Inns in Cardiff will be exclusively showcasing a photographic exhibition ‘The Face of British Cycling Bradley Wiggins’ by Cardiff-based photographer and cyclist Simon Connellan.

The photographs, on display in public for the very first time throughout July, offer an up close and personal glimpse into one of today’s most influential and successful British cyclists and athletes, Bradley Wiggins.

The exhibition features a series of intimate portraits, his races throughout Britain and Europe with Team Sky and his record-breaking Hour Record at the London Olympic Velodrome in June. Also on show are close up images of the subtle, retro style of Bradley Wiggins, such as the mod roundel and signature Wiggo namesake on his cycling kit and bikes.

In 2013 Simon Connellan won a UK-wide video competition to produce an inspirational film for Team Sky members which was played on their team bus travelling to the final stages of the Tour.

The photographer, who has followed Team Sky and Bradley Wiggins since 2010 said:

“Cycling is one of the only sports where you can still get to know the cyclists both as individuals as well as athletes, and I have been fortunate to be able to follow the highs and lows of Team Sky over the past five years.

“In terms of photographic imagery, it offers unlimited visual material and an opportunity to capture a single moment or emotion during a race.

“The images are a unique record of Bradley Wiggins’ rise to fame as both a cyclist and a British personality which runs parallel to the phenomenal rise of cycling in Britain and beyond.”

The exhibition is part of Future Inns in Cardiff’s cycle-friendly initiative ‘Bike to the Future’, which aims to encourage more cyclists to bring their bikes when they stay in the city.

Additionally, the hotel will now provide bike-friendly services, including information on local south Wales cycle routes, showing live screenings of the Tour de France and adding cyclist-favoured dishes to its menu.
